Since its founding, HKU has consistently used English as its medium of instruction, enabling seamless academic collaboration and positive interaction with Europe and America. This advantage has long positioned HKU as a unique flagship in China's higher education landscape, renowned for its strengths in medicine, business, humanities, law, and other fields, earning acclaim across Asia and globally. HKU is a member of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities, the Universitas 21 network, the China University Presidents Association, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance, the Beijing-Hong Kong University Alliance, and the Shanghai-Hong Kong University Alliance.
