What to expect
The Sendai Umino-Mori Aquarium is an aquarium that exhibits 50,000 creatures of 300 species with the slogan "Sparkling of Life, Umi-no-Mori." There are about 100 large and small display tanks in the facility, which reproduce the seas of Japan and the world, including the seas of Sanriku. The aquarium has a variety of fun things to enjoy, such as a large tank where Sanriku fish swim, Tohoku's largest performance of dolphins and sea lions, and a 360° panoramic projection mapping. Also, there are a variety of interactive programs such as "Dolphin Touch & Photo" where you can touch bottlenose dolphins, "Penguin Feeding Time" where you feed the penguins, and the oyster shell workshops.
